Khubsoorat Collection Asiana Bridal Show
Greetings to all the women who will walk their own ramp this year as brides,
For those of you brides & grooms who were at the Khubsoorat collection’s supercilious exhibition at the Asiana Bridal exhibition held at the prestigious Park plaza hotel on the 30th of January 2011, know exactly how spectacular the event was. And for the ones who missed out, I can only try to do justice to the breathtaking bridal collection 2011 that Khubsoorat launched and exhibited on the day.
To begin with I can be the curtain raiser by saying how absolutely mesmerising it was to be there to see the exhibition and experience a total “made to measure” environment. It was all there: the bridal couturier herself Mani Kohli with the menswear creative designer: Saran Kohli, the beautiful staff in corsets, the models displaying the outfits with Make-Up by Tabinda Shah of Bindis & Tiaras, and the admin team. The team of experts exhibited to give out and behind them was the display of Khubsoorat Collection’s bridal wear 2011 which acted as a canvas to the entire event. With gold crushed 3D roses as a backdrop and, larger than life ivory corset worn by the mannequin, surrounding which was the other bridal wear. The entire the display truly was a piece of art- an absolutely eye catching display.

Mani Kohli
Mani Kohli made her debut in the UK more than 25 years ago by launching women’s wear clothing for the Asian community as she saw a huge gap in the market for this segment. From the day when brides had to travel to India for their wedding outfits and then nearer the event the outfit came ill fitted. It was nothing but stress to have it all fit, let alone the major concern being – did it meet the brides expectations?
Today in the Khubsoorat world of Mani Kohli’s boutique the day has come, when brides can make appointments to meet the designer herself and after several consultations her dream wedding outfit is in the process of making. Mani’s collection’s inspiration comes from the Indian heritage with a blend of fusion and tradition.
2011 bridal collection consisted of bejewelled skirts flaring out from corseted waists. Voluminous skirts in full or with layers accentuated with crystal and exquisite embroideries on rich fabrics like duchess silk, brocades and silk georgettes in vibrant red, orange and fuchsia colours. Hand woven roses with blinging crystals were the theme on ball gowns. Contoured silhouettes with ruched silks and swaying bubble layers in creams and whites, embellished with pearls for the ornate heavy alternatives to the traditional wedding dresses. Most of the dresses are finished with beautifully embroidered heavy dupattas to tulles draped around shoulders over heavy beaded bodices.

Traditional
Each and every one of the ensemble made with the highest quality and attention given to each detail from fit, colour, fabric, embellishments these bridal wear only bought more curiosity for the brides to wonder what the clothes look when worn on and how they feel in terms of comfort and weight. As a solution to this query we had live male and female models from the fashion industry that modelled the fusion and traditional bridal clothes and spoke to the clients about their experience of the striking outfits. As a result yet again khubsoorat was being different and exclusive in displaying its outfits in an extravagant way by displaying the clothes not just on the hanger or mannequins but models.
Bridal colours showcased at the khubsoorat exhibition were red, ivory and this seasons trend setter colour lavender purple with traditional Indian embroidery of the finest quality and cuts and style to match the needs of today’s bride.

Saran Kohli & Models
Amongst the collection exhibited was the groom’s side by Saran Kohli who showcased his traditional sherwanis to the fusion suits with a difference for the grooms. JLS being the celebrity that Saran recently styled in his collection was the main element for the grooms of the show.

Saran Kohli Fusion-Wear
To conclude I can add that the entire event was an example of khobsoorat’s teamwork at optimum force and off course without Mani Kohli’s expertise it wouldn’t be possible. Undoubtedly she is one of those people who has made it her sole reason of designing: “giving Asian brides perfection to the core when it comes to their bridal attire”.
